Thank you for participating in the National Disease and Therapeutic Index.

For more than 40 years, the National Disease and Therapeutic Index (NDTI) has tracked epidemiological trends and treatment patterns continually among private practice physicians in the United States. A panel, comprised of more than 4,000 office based physicians, reports quarterly on all patient contacts occurring during a single forty-eight hour period. For each patient contact, the physician records basic patient demographics, diagnosis, and related therapies (Rx, OTC, Vitamins).

The NDTI has linked thousands of physicians together in a seamless and complex tapestry depicting practice in the office setting. Through this ageless linkage, researchers are just now beginning to understand the richness of this practice tapestry. The Department of Health Policy (DHP), established in 1990 by the leadership of Jefferson Medical College and Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, plans to study this tapestry to reveal all of its intricacies.

Thank you for your participation in this important study. If you would like to learn more about either the NDTI or the Department of Health Policy, please click the links above.
